15 years ago, Ian underwent successful treatment for Prostate Cancer, where he had 37 radiotherapy sessions at the Rosemere centre in Preston. Since then, the Rosemere Cancer Foundation grew very close to his heart. He set out on doing some fundraising for them and with the help of his friend Mary, they were able to run 2 fundraising events that helped them raise close to £2000. The idea for the events started because they realised they were only meeting up with friends at funerals, so they decided on ‘Walk of Life’ as the title. He was very passionate about the charity and any more raised would be sure to make him proud.

All I know is, every time I climb in my wheelie bin to crush it and squeeze more in, I think "dont do an Ian Poss" and fall out. It's been over 20 years since I heard the story but I guess it stuck? I didn't know Ian personally, although the way we carried on at school you would think we knew each others Dad's a bit too well. One thing's for sure, Ian did an excellent job raising some fantastic people, I'm sure he's very proud as he should be. When all is said and done, that's the best result we can all hope for.
